Christian Talk 24.10.22

•• Then those who feared the LORD spoke with one another.

~ Malachi 3:16 ••

I reach out to those who believe Biblical wisdom should once again greatly influence our society.

Perspective by Terry Haines

• Lance Walnau speaks about why the 3% LGB community is so effective but the 30+% Christian community is not. Shaking the Gates of Hell- Jesus is Building a Church For Battle

• Pastor R.T Kendall tells why a preacher should AVOID Seminary if he want to be a good preacher.

• The John Bevere Podcast explains What Christians Don’t Understand About the 2024 Election. In this candid discussion, John Bevere and Gabe Lyons tackle the high stakes of this critical election season.

• It has been said that our vote is not a valentine, where we choose who we love the most. It is a chess game where we make our moves according to what we feel will bring about the best overall result for ourselves and for our neighbors.

That's All HE Wrote

How do we say this is the finish? We say "That's all she wrote" or "This is their swan song" or some such thing. This will be my final post as a candidate before the election.

Today, I paid my final campaign expense and met with my final group of people I hope to influence to vote for me. It was a small Right to Life group.

I want to make some comments again in this blog that I believe will be to the best benefit to the Christian community - not just now, not just with me, but looking at the game long-term. So let my mind meander on that course.

I believe that our country was uniquely based on Christian principles. I have had some personal study on this and have been a part of community teachings that bring me to this conclusion. Our country was based on Biblical wisdom. Western civilization IS Christian civilization and to the extent that we lose our Christian foundation, we also lose our civilization.

It is our Christian duty to be good neighbors and share the practical insights we find in the Bible with our neighbors, the greater society around us. That is not imposing a theocracy. It is sharing some enduring realities that build societies.

Take the issue once again of abortion. We who clearly see Scripture know that we are fearfully and wonderfully made and that we are created in the image of God. Humans are not just another mammal in the animal kingdom. We are unique. We are not just star-dust as some have romantically surmised. We are eternal beings designed to connect with God, the ultimate Extraterrestrial who lives outside of time, space, and matter. This holy God will one day bring to judgement our every thought, word, deed, and motive of every individual. So it matters how we treat the most vulnerable among us - in this case the unborn child.

Christianity holds our sexuality to be an extraordinary gift. It is potentially life giving and those who do not treat it without that extreme respect are misusing their sexuality. Our sexuality is not just for pleasure, although it certainly is that. Pleasure is the most obvious goal of sex. But our sexuality also is for reproduction and for bonding and for companionship. Then it brings the need for the rearing and protection and socialization of our children. We are told three times in the Song of Solomon to not stir up or awaken love until it is ready to be awakened (2:7, 3:5, 8:4). To sexualize our children before it is time for them to deal with the accompanying responsibilities is just plain evil.

Let's look at the ten commandments for a bit and see how we can use it to benefit society. The first three commandments teach us to love and respect God. We humans have a spiritual side, whether we like it or not, or whether we acknowledge or understand it or not. The fourth commandment is to respect the sabbath. There is wide disagreement about this commandment and how it effects us today, but it certainly teaches us that humans are not to work all day long and all night long for our entire lives. We are to rest as needed. We are not machines or cogs in endless industry. God Himself rested as an example to us when He finished creating the heavens and the earth.

We are taught that the family is important by being told to honor our father and mother (5) and to not commit adultery (7). We are taught the value of human life by the commandment to not murder (6). We are taught that private ownership is a good given to society by the commandment to not steal (8). We are taught the evils of socialism by the commandment to not covet (10). We are taught the value and need of a justice system by the commandment to not bear false witness against our neighbors (9).

We are given the law to teach us that men are sinners. Because the founders of our nation believed in that humans were sinners, they carefully divided the federal government into three balancing branches, the executive (like a king), the legislative (like the prophets) and the judicial (like the priests).

Let me end with bad news and good news. First some unexpected bad news:

God is good. In fact God is perfect.

That's bad news because we are eternal beings and yet there seems to be no way we can dwell with God in heaven.

Now the good news for those unaware. Jesus died on the cross as a sacrifice for our sake so that we can dwell forever with God. But God - I mean this respectfully - is a gentleman. He will not force anyone to live forever with him. This salvation is a gift and must be individually received.

But to all who have received him – those who believe in his name – he has given the right to become God’s children

~ John 1:12 NET

For this is the way God loved the world: He gave his one and only Son, so that everyone who believes in him will not perish but have eternal life.

~ John 3:16 NET

We can never be good enough to live in God's presence. We must come to him through faith. That is not just mental assent, but trusting in Jesus' provision for our sins. Then if we are sincere we will also trust God to clean us up. God loves us so much He will accept us as we are. He also loves us so much that those He accepts He cleans up.

The next steps? Find a Bible-believing church where you can learn and trust His word.

Know that God has a plan for your life. Be willing to find and follow that plan.

Come to God unreservedly.
